“The secret of your success is hidden in your daily routine.”
I couldn’t agree with this more as it holds so much truth. A huge personal goal of mine for this year was to be much more mindful of the habits that I create. Bad habits often lead to excuses and laziness – at least for me. Those aren’t exactly the keys to success.
If you want things to change, then you have to MAKE a change. I knew that I couldn’t keep repeating the same mistakes over and over, otherwise I would continue to see the same results.
At this point in my life, I am trying to take things to the next level and I know it’s going to demand a different version of myself. I took some time to pinpoint my biggest weaknesses and figure out the areas that needed the most improvements. Then, I created an action plan.
These lifestyle changes aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but they’re things I should have been doing all along. It’s important to note that there really is so much power in our daily routine and sometimes switching it up can be exactly what you need to get to that next level.

Focusing More On Nutrition
Let me preface this by saying that I am NOT on a diet. I’m not a fan of them nor am I looking for a “quick fix” – I just want to make healthier choices and ensure that I am fueling my body in the best possible way.
I am actually eating MORE throughout the day. I got into a horrible habit of skipping meals. I would go hours without eating due to a hectic schedule and then would find myself reaching for anything that I could get my hands on. This resulted in a lot of late night snacking and depriving my body of the nutrients that it needs.
I’m finding a better overall balance, focusing more on portion control and making sure that I do not skip any meals. I don’t feel sluggish anymore and in fact, I have way more energy!
Staying Active Each Day
A major personal goal this year was to get back on track with my fitness. I have always lacked consistency and knew this was an area that needed improving. When I signed on to the 28-day #getinmotion challenge, I knew this was a great way to hold me accountable.
And it has! I feel SO much better working out and staying active every day.
When I began my workouts again last month, I couldn’t believe how out of shape I had already gotten. I have to admit that the first day back was a bit discouraging. I managed to push through it though and so happy that I did. I am building my endurance back up and getting a little stronger every day. More importantly, I feel great!
Waking Up Earlier
I find myself waking up almost 2 hours earlier than usual every day now without even trying to. It’s crazy! I’m pretty sure it’s a combination of the consistent workouts and fueling my body the right way. I used to wake up cranky and irritable, wanting to hit the snooze button 3 more times. I was NOT a morning person by any means. But now, I actually wake up energized and happy!
Having almost 2 extra hours in the day has been amazing. I realize how much more I’ve been able to get done and want to kick myself for not doing this much sooner. Now I know why they say “The early bird gets the worm.” Ha!
I can be the first to admit that working from home all these years has caused me to form some horrible habits. I am slowly tackling them all, one by one.
Taking Social Media Breaks
You probably don’t even notice because of the new algorithm, but sometimes I go several days without posting any content. As someone who used to post multiple times a day, every day, that’s a big deal for me.
Creating content consistently is such a huge part of what I do. Even when I’m not active on the blog, I do my best to stay present on social media. But if I’m being truthful, I have needed these breaks far more frequently lately. It helps me get out of that habit of having to share every single detail of my day. It allows me to just be in the moment.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I am working on having a better balance.
I’ve been part of this digital world for over 6 years now. During this time, I have shared SO much of my life with all of you. I love doing so, but I also really enjoy time away too. I’ve found that it gives me peace of mind, allows me to regroup and feel a bit more inspired. It also calms me. Sometimes a little break is all you need!
Being Kinder To Myself
I’ll preach self-love all day, every day if I have to. Our mind will believe whatever we tell it. Feed it faith, feed it truth, feed it with love.
I’ve been giving myself more compliments than criticism lately. As someone who is their own worst critic, this is a huge improvement for me. Instead of wasting time complaining about all the things that I need to change, I have been taking the proper steps to actually make those changes.
I remind myself of how far I have come whenever I feel as though I’m at a standstill. And when I do feel stuck, I’m figuring out ways to keep moving through the stillness. I’ve also accepted the fact that I can’t be everything to everyone and that is OK. I am doing the best that I can.
My life is nowhere near perfect and I still have a long way to go, but lately I feel more at peace with myself. I honestly believe these 5 changes have had a hand in that. It’s almost as if I’m subconsciously digging deep to get to that next version of myself and I’m ready for it!
Thanks so much for reading! Are there any lifestyle changes that you have recently made? If so, I hope you’ll share them with me. Happy Thursday!
The last is something I’m working on as well. It’s something I talk about with pretty much all my clients but of course struggle with.
It’s definitely a work in progress. I think we all struggle with it from time to time. Just remember you are amazing xo
Sometimes in the dream itself I’ll have a guitar in my hands and workout the chords and be figuring out the words and the music, so then I have to force myself to wake up so I don’t loose the song, or its gone forever. But usually the excitement of a new song is enough to wake me up.
