Welcome to 2016!
I hope that you all had an amazing New Years Eve and weekend. It’s hard to believe that it’s already January 4th. Are you ready to kick some ass this year? Because I know that I am!
What I’m Wearing
Vest: Sosie | Sweater: Forever21 [similar style] | Jeans: TopShop | Shoes: Vince Camuto
Hat: Forever21 [similar here & here] | Bag: French Connection
Before I get into this look, it’s time for honesty hour. Every so often I might mention some of the struggles that I have when shooting my outfits, but I feel as though I don’t get into it enough. Since it’s a New Year, I figured it would be best to shed a little bit of light on this because no one ever really knows what happens behind the lens. First of all I need to say that I have loved every minute of being a mother/daughter team. Having my mom as my photographer has been such a blessing in many ways, but sometimes we struggle and lately it’s been happening quite often. What most of you don’t know is that we typically shoot on her lunch break, which is a huge sacrifice that she makes for me. It doesn’t give us much time to find the right location and get the perfect light. Both of us are still learning how to use my camera so sometimes the photos are blurry and the majority of a shoot could be horrible. We get challenged by weather conditions like super cold and windy days or ones with gloom and very little sunshine. All of this affects not only the photos, but both of our moods too. We do the best that we can, but overall it can just be very frustrating and when you’re pressed for time, it makes it that much worse. I already feel bad enough that half of her lunch hour is spent on me, so when we have a failed shoot, it just seems like this big waste of time. Moving into the New Year, I am going to start working with other photographers too so that there is not so much pressure on my mom and hopefully that can make things go a bit more smoothly for me as well. I guess my point in telling you all this is that while shooting for the blog can be a lot of fun, it also takes a lot of time and effort to get things right.
Ok, now on to the outfit. If you haven’t already noticed I have this thing with hats. Literally can’t get enough of them. I’ve always wanted a red fedora, so I was really happy when I found this one. I wore it on Christmas Day with this same plaid vest and just really loved both of these pieces together. I decided to style the vest differently this time before it gets too cold. And baby, it’s definitely starting to get cold outside! [Cue one of my favorite holiday songs] I couldn’t help but get a bit match-matchy by completing the look with these red lace-up pumps. They dressed this up more and added in that chic factor, while the knee ripped denim and hat brought that edginess that I love so much.
I hope that 2016 has been off to a great start for you
You can say that again about the bts of a shoot! I sometimes have that tension with my husband. The struggle know one sees behind a picture lol. Cute outfit babe. Xo

the struggle lol <3
My husband takes my photographs and we have certainly had similar experiences, especially during the winter. There's so little time to take decent pictures with the sun setting so early everyday. It can be very frustrating for the both of us. AND even though we've been taking photographs for years, sometimes I swear all our photography skills amount to squat and produce nothing but blurry photos. So hang in there Naty because I know how you feel!

The winter is definitely the most challenging and least fun lol Happy you could relate. Thanks love!
I love your shoes!! Taking photos for the blog can definitely be a challenge! I've been taking all of my photos myself so I use a tripod but I hope to one day find a photographer to work with. My mom is notorious for cutting people's heads off in photos so she's out

Oh girl I don't know how you do it. More power to you! <3
I totally can relate to you Naty. My husband is my photographer and he works from home, therefore I could only do my shoots after his work hours that is usually during late afternoon. So we would have to rush before the sun sets and won't hve that much time scouting for locations. And the weather is a factor too.I totally understand how you feel =). I love your outfit and the red goes so well with the vest. ❤
So happy you were able to relate! It's good to know that I am not alone in feeling that way. You're so sweet thanks girl xo
