5 Tips For Staying Inspired

5-tips-for-staying-inspired

“How do you stay inspired?” This is a common question that I and so many others are
constantly asked. I am typically always excited about taking on new projects and usually have so many new ideas floating around in my head. I really do have a genuine zest for life and do my best to let that shine through my work.  The truth though is that there are
definitely moments when I do lose my inspiration. I think we all do at some point or another and that is completely normal. Life sometimes gets the best of us and it can have a habit of dragging us down. It is ok to go through the motions every now and then, just don’t unpack and live there. The most important thing is that we are able to come out of those ruts and find new inspiration. So without further ado, here are 5 of my tips for staying inspired.

1. Experience Something New

Whenever I am feeling down and out, I get this sudden urge to try something for the first time. This can be anything from an adventurous activity to a new restaurant to a new travel destination. Choices are endless. Whatever you choose to experience, it’s always refreshing to incorporate something fun and different into the mix to balance out the mundane day-to-day tasks. I find that trying something for the first time fills me with a little bit of inspiration and makes me want to keep venturing out into the unknown.

2. Declutter/Reorganize

This is a big one for me. Whenever my room or office is a mess, I feel even more stressed out and uninspired. It’s as if all the clutter prevents me from thinking clearly. If this tends to be the case for you too, then it’s time to declutter. Don’t just clean up your space, but
reorganize it and also get rid of things that you don’t need with the mindset that you are making room for something new. What’s that something new? Let that thought inspire you. A fresh clean space often gives me a fresh clean mind, allowing new inspiration to seep through.

3. Change Your Routine

One of the most common ways to lose inspo is by doing the same exact thing every single day. Maybe you are doing too much or maybe you are doing too little.  Either way, it’s so
important to make it a habit of switching up your routine. This does wonders for you
mentally and emotionally. Maybe you need to wake up a little earlier and get that workout in before work instead of after work. Maybe you need to start focusing on one goal at a time instead of 5 at once. Maybe it’s as simple as changing up the food you eat.  Whatever the case may be, make some adjustments and start today!

4. Read A New Book

Whether you are a closet bookworm like me or not, reading is such an amazing way to feel inspired. I still prefer getting a physical book from the bookstore, but the beauty today is that you can easily purchase and download a book right to your phone or tablet. I think that the best time to read is right before bed. When I feel uninspired, I usually can’t sleep at night so reading helps me with this tremendously.  It’s also a nice change of pace to take my mind off whatever may be stressing me out and I find myself waking up with some newfound inspiration in the morning. One of my all time favorite books is The Alchemist. If you haven’t read it yet, then what are you waiting for?

5. Keep Learning

There is always more for us to learn just like there is always room for us to grow. Spend some time researching and talking with people who might be more knowledgeable than you on a specific topic. Exchange ideas and have meaningful conversations. Put the phone down and have more face-to-face interactions.  Truly engage with others and make sure you are actually listening. Try to learn something new from each person you meet and everything that you experience. Let failure or set backs teach you something about yourself and allow them to motivate you to keep pushing forward.

There is inspiration all around us every single day, but sometimes we just can’t see it. I hope that these 5 tips were able to give you a little bit of insight and that they can help you find a new perspective. What are some of the ways that you stay inspired?

  1. Thank you for sharing these tips. It is so true too. i find myself getting into a funk often and i have to stop myself and restrategize. It’s easy to allow yourself to feel like that. A change of scenery, reorganization those are both great tips to help spark up the inspiration.

  2. This is so true! I love reorganizing or getting rid of my things to literally let the new energy fill the space! and my mind. It’s so important, especially nowadays when we tend to invest in so many material things!
