Oh Hey May, We Meet Again

You know that saying, “April showers bring May flowers“? Well, April definitely was a rainy month for me and I don’t mean this in the literal sense, even though it literally rained too. Last month challenged me with some set backs and speed bumps, both work wise and personally. It tested my patience, a lot, and overwhelmed me in so many different ways. I found myself longing for it to hurry up and end. I’d like to think that all of this was setting me up for a fruitful May with new opportunities to come or shall I say “blossom.” I’ve already got some amazing things lined up, including almost 2 weeks away in Spain. I think that this trip is coming at the most perfect time. Whenever it’s the first of the month, I do my best to think of it as a clean slate and a fresh start filled with new chances. So hello May, we meet again. I’m ready for whatever you bring my way this time.

When it’s 80 degrees, the legs come out to play! I mean, am I right? 🙋🏻 As you can see, I couldn’t help but dress for summer and I immediately grabbed a pair of shorts without hesitation. After being cooped up inside my house looking a hot mess in pajamas for pretty much all of last week with a stomach bug, I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to step outside into such gorgeous weather on Saturday. I finally felt like a normal human again and the sunshine definitely made me extra happy too. I’m also excited to say that my dermatitis has pretty much all faded away, at least for now! Here’s hoping that I can make it through the summer season without having to stress about it too much.

This was one of those outfits where I decided to mix a little bit of old and new together. I first got these shorts last year and still love them so much. The mixed floral patchwork print is so fun and different. I tried to find a very similar pair, but to no avail. My Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mab is a few years old now too. I had found it brand new on Poshmark for less than the retail price. Pretty sure if you did a search you might be able to find one for a great deal! I love how the pink tote helped to bring out the print and really brought the whole look together.

These shoes are new and I have to say my obsession with low block heels continues to grow. Sometimes I want to dress up without having to wear high heels and I think that these are a great substitute. They’re so on trend too. I am noticing more so lately that I have been choosing comfort over anything else. I love how the fashion industry has put more of a focus on this too by creating so many different options for us when it comes to comfort. We don’t have to worry about sacrificing our style in the process.

I got a lot of questions about this top and unfortunately I couldn’t track it down online. It came in a StichFix package last month as I had specifically asked for pieces that I could bring with me to Spain. I thought this tiered ruffle top was perfect! It actually has one more layer, but I decided to tuck it into my shorts. Pretty sure you will be seeing this top on me a lot more over the next several months as it will serve as a great staple item in my summer wardrobe. It’s definitely going in my suitcase too!

Wishing you all a very Happy Monday and a Happy May! P.S. Thanks so much to all those who have already signed up to my newsletter. We had a small bump in the road with coding, but have been working hard to get it all finalized so that I can finally start sending it out. Stay tuned!

  1. Sorry to hear you had a rough April. I’m looking forward to the fresh start of May as well.

This look is great! You’re right, the handbag really brings it all together.
