Texture Mixing

I just want to start by saying Thank You again for all of the amazing birthday love and super sweet messages.  You all know how to make a girl feel extra special on her birthday.  I have to say that now that I am getting a bit further into my 30s, I cannot hang like I used to! HA! But seriously, I celebrated with my friends Friday night and was a legit zombie all day Saturday.  Oh, and the transmission on my car went, lost my wallet (but found it) and was basically an overall hot mess this entire weekend.  I guess 32 does that to you, huh?  Anyway, it’s time for a new style post. 🙂

Poncho: Dynamite [also love] | Leggings: Dynamite | Top: Target [similar]

Shoes: Prima Donna | Bag: Philip Lim x Target [old, love this mini]

You might remember this poncho from a few weeks ago.  I wanted to show another way that it could be styled.  Too often we wear things one time only and think that we can never wear it again.  Lies.  In fact, one of my favorite parts about fashion is reworking items in new ways.  I really enjoy showing the versatility of certain pieces.  Ponchos have become such a fall staple, at least in my opinion, and there are so many ways to wear them.  I mean it’s literally like wearing a blanket.  How can you not love them?

I am a huge fan of mixing textures so that was basically the inspiration behind this look.  I love the mix of the faux leather, knit and suede.  It’s fun playing around with different materials in the same outfit.   I wore this at some point last week when it was 75 degrees.  I totally had a Ross moment from Friends.  Remember when he wore leather pants and couldn’t get them off?  Yeah, that happened.

Happy new week!
