Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day!

I hope that today is a reminder for us to all empower one another and lift each other up instead of being so quick to tear each other down.  Some of the words that I see being thrown back and forth at other women literally makes me sick to my stomach.  I don’t know how or why we got to this point, but I just hope that little be little we can start doing better.  We are all beautiful and special in our own ways and have something unique to bring to the table.  Unfortunately we don’t always see that in other women because negativity creeps in and jealousy or insecurities get the best of us. There is enough room for all of us to succeed.  It’s ok to light someone else’s candle.  We all shine brighter that way.  I feel very blessed to have such strong, inspiring, motivated, and independent women in my life.  Being surrounded by them has helped to make me a better woman.  I am flawed and I have my moments of weakness, but they’re always an amazing reminder for me to get back on track.

My mom is not just my mother, she is also my best friend.  She is my strength and support system and having her by my side makes me realize how lucky I am.  I speak so much of my father and the ways that he has inspired me, but that does not mean I don’t get the same inspiration from my mother.  She has been through so much in her life and has always found a way to come out on top.  I get my resilience from her.  She never gives up hope even though at times she might want to. Her personality and energy is contagious and she has definitely passed that down to me.  [Just watch my snapchats from time to time and you’ll see what I mean.]  She sacrifices so much for her family and I will forever be grateful for that.  She has been taking my photos almost every day for the last four years and never once has she complained, even though she gives up part of her lunch hour.  Words can’t even express how much her dedication and support means to me.  I am nothing without her and can only hope to be half the woman she is.

My sister is also another one of the strongest women I know and I admire her for that.  I am not sure what I would do without her.  We might not always see eye to eye, but I’m lucky to have her as my sis. She has been through so much, especially since our father passed away, but she always pulls through.  She now has a little family of her own.  I’ve seen her grow so much and she is already such an amazing mother to my niece, Mia.  I love them both with all my heart!

These girls are everything to me.  I’ve been friends with them for years since both high school and college.  They’re the type of friends where we don’t need to see or speak to each other all of the time to know that we are there.  Our bond is special and it’s real. They are all so beautiful, intelligent and inspiring in their own ways.  I love them! The only one missing in this photo is my bestie Christine who moved to Cali a few years ago.  Love you too!

Chevy and I met a few years ago in the industry and quickly formed a close friendship.  She is one of the most supportive women and friends in my life and I am so thankful for her.  We always have a blast when we are together.  Today is also her birthday, so Happy Birthday boo!  Love you!
Daniela might live in Miami, but we text with one another on a regular basis.  I am actually going to see her later today! We met several years ago through blogging and I am so happy that we formed a friendship beyond the blog.  She’s such a great inspiration and I admire her hard work and dedication.  We have so many memories together already. I even went to her wedding! <3
Lillian is another blogger who quickly turned into one of my close friends.  I met her when I had first started my blog.  She lives in LA, but we also speak on a regular basis.  She’s super supportive and has a big heart. I love that we are able to talk about literally everything.
Lexi and I clicked instantly when we first met and we got even closer during fashion week last Feb.  She’s such a hustler and I truly admire that about her.  Due to our schedules we don’t get to see much of each other or speak on a regular basis, but she’s always going to be one of my favorite people in New York!
Elaine lives in LA and Kristin is in Miami.  I only get to see them during fashion week or when one of us makes a trip out to each other’s state, but when I do we always have a blast.  They’re both amazing in their own way and I am so happy to know them beyond the blogs.

I really just wanted to show love and appreciation to some of the women in my life.  There are so many more from friends, to family and more blogger babes whom I admire I just unfortunately didn’t have photos with all of them to post here, but they know who they are!  With the craziness of life we sometimes lose touch, but I’m pretty sure they know that they hold a special place in my heart.  I also want to show love and appreciation to all of the women who take the time to read my posts and show your support!  Thank you for letting me share my life with you.

We shouldn’t only celebrate each other today, it should be every day.  Keep shining, stay strong and crush your goals. Who run the world? <3
