Life Chats

Your worth is not measured in likes, comments, notes or followers; but in your ability to love, keep comments to yourself, take note and lead.”

I’ve seen this quote so many times and it’s always struck a chord with me.  In a world where social media dominates our daily lives, far too often many of us rely on it to define our worth.  I can admit as a blogger that numbers are important, but I personally don’t think that they are the only things that should matter.  Showing who you are, sharing your passions and creativity, engaging with the people who take the time to check out your posts, having fun doing what you love and above all always remaining humble… this is what should truly matter the most.

A friend and fellow blogger, Emily, recently posted something on instagram about remembering why you started. It really got me thinking because this is a topic that I have often wanted to discuss here on the blog and it’s great knowing that I am not the only one who has been thinking about it.  I’ve had this blog for almost 4 years and when I first started I honestly did not know the first thing about blogging.  I had no idea what it could lead to or that social media would become so important and popular.  I started it as a new way to create and express myself by doing something I love and sharing that passion with others.  It was therapeutic for me then and it still is today.  It helped pulled me out of a difficult time in my life and over these last several years it’s really allowed me to find myself again.  I had no idea what I wanted to do and organically this creative outlet transitioned into a full time job.  I am still as passionate about it today as I was almost 4 years ago and it’s still my creative outlet.  It always will be.

With literally thousands of bloggers, it can definitely be difficult to stand out amongst the crowd.  Truthfully the best way to do this is to simply be who you are. Do not change.  Do not try and do what everyone else is doing.  Find what works for you.  Stay true to you and continue down that path because you will never regret it.  That is one of the main reasons why I created this whole Life Chats series.  I didn’t want to be seen as just another fashion blogger because there is so much more that I want to share.  The best part about having a blog and being on social media is the ability to connect with others, to have someone relate to not just my style but the things that I am experiencing in life.  It’s about inspiring [in any way] and being inspired as well.  Sure numbers look good, but for me connecting is way more important and I always want that connection to be strong.

It’s so easy to compare ourselves to others.  It’s so easy to get discouraged on social media because our following is not as large or our photos did not get as many likes as someone else.  I admit that I have definitely fallen victim to this over these last several years.  It’s not easy to admit that, but hey, I’m human and it happens.  I have come to realize though that numbers do not define whom I am or my worth and they should not define you either.  I am going to post what I love.  I am going to continue to share my passions, pieces of my life, and my creativity with everyone no matter what.  I hope you do too.  Remember that this is not a competition.  It is not a race.  Everything happens in its own time.  You might not be where you want to be yet, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get there.  It’s all about forward movement and evolving.  Do not stop and always remember why you started.

I hope that you know how amazing and beautiful you are.  You do not need someone to tell you that.  You do not need numbers to show it to you.  Just believe it.  Thanks so much for reading today’s post.  I hope you were able to take something from it.

 Enjoy your weekend loves! <3

Well I have recently developed this habit of questioning myself that why I started with this thing when so ever I go weak. And it really helps I have again learned to love myself merely for who I am Nomatter what others think of me, thank you so much.
