A week in the life with MS 🧡 Some good days and some tough ones. Learning to walk with a cane. Infusion day. Quality time with my mom and Kiko. 🫶🏼⁣
⁣
My diagnosis has brought up a lot of grief — grief for the life I had before and everything I used to be able to do. It’s been incredibly hard to accept that I now have limitations, to realize I can’t do things the way I once did, and to come to terms with how much my life has changed. It really sucks to cancel plans and miss out on opportunities because I can’t show up physically like I used to.⁣
⁣
At the same time, I know this is still the beginning, and there’s a lot I’m learning to adjust to. Everyone tells me this is the hardest part to push through, but once I get to the other side of it (whatever that may look like), I’ll know I can handle anything. The last thing I want is to feel sorry for myself, but I believe that part of processing my feelings is letting myself acknowledge these emotions when they come up. ⁣

Ocrevus round ✌🏼💪🏼 Next one is not until April, and I am so happy to have this first full infusion behind me. ⁣
⁣
It’s been a little over a month since my diagnosis and wow — what an emotional rollercoaster. I’ve been sharing both the highs and lows, and truly appreciate the support and encouragement. Thank you for rooting for me! ⁣
⁣
I’ve made some improvements at physical therapy and I’m making sure to celebrate every small win. I have such a long road ahead of me, and sometimes I need to remind myself of that. ⁣
⁣
When I turned 40 last November, I really thought this would be my best year yet, but life had other plans for me. Isn’t that how it usually goes? I have to believe there’s a reason and a purpose this all happened. Whether it’s to help spread more awareness around MS, get into advocacy work or maybe finally write my book — I’m not sure yet. But I need to hope it’s pushing me toward something greater than myself. 🧡⁣

A big moment for me. 🥹 After a lot of internal struggle, I finally accepted that I need a cane to help me walk sometimes. This doesn’t have to be forever and I don’t need it every day, but it’s for right now to help support me as I work on building strength in my legs again. I borrowed a cane that my mom used a while ago when she hurt her back, but I will definitely be getting a stylish one of my own — because if I need to use one, I might as well try to make it fun. 😄⁣
⁣
I can’t lie. This was hard for me. But after a conversation with my PT earlier this week, I realized it would help me feel a bit more safe and confident in walking on my own. It would also help to keep me more active. And really, who cares what anyone else thinks? It felt good to finally say, “This is what I need. I’m going to listen to my body.” ⁣

First infusion of Ocrevus! 💪🏼 I get the second half of this first dose in two weeks, and then in April, I go back for my second full dose. They said I did really well for my first infusion. 🙏🏼⁣

Now it all feels real — I am living with Multiple Sclerosis. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to saying those words. This is forever a part of my life now, but I will not let it define me. I’m doing my best to cope with it all as best as I can. I am trying to be patient with myself — but honestly, it gets really hard sometimes. ⁣
⁣
The things I did so normally before now take all of my energy. And the fatigue — I’ve never experienced anything like it. A good day is being able to walk one full block without having to sit down. Isn’t that wild? Remember when I ran 10 miles?! But I’m on week 3 of physical therapy and little by little I will regain my strength. I will not give up on myself. ⁣
⁣
I was extremely anxious about today, but everyone made me feel so comfortable. I have a great healthcare team and I am very grateful for that. I need to say a huge thank you to my sister for putting together the most thoughtful bag of essentials to take with me to the hospital. Swipe for my emotional support pickle. 😂 And a huge thank you to my mama for bringing me breakfast this morning. ⁣
⁣
My hope in sharing my journey with Multiple Sclerosis is to spread more awareness around MS, and maybe that can help someone else in the process. I also want to remind others they are not alone in what they’re going through. Thank you for embracing me with so much love & support. 🫶🏼 ⁣

I’ve been sharing my MS journey so far over on stories and appreciate everyone who’s been watching and sending along support. Every day really does look different. Some days suck. They really suck. And some days I feel so strong. Documenting both kinds of days and learning to embrace them both. Yesterday was one of the good days. I kicked ass at physical therapy and went to dinner with the girls. Thankful to have so much support around me and friends who hold my arm to help me walk when I need it. 🫶🏼 #lifelately #cameraroll #multiplesclerosis
